my 1984 tbird 3.8L TBI wont start. I tried to check for spark and I did not see one. I changed the coil and still no spark. When I try to start it it just cranks and cranks and doesnt fire. Could a TFI module cause the coil to shut down??
Please help me I am stuck
Thanks
marc
it could,.... How constant is the turning over? check the ignition switch and mess with those wires too.
it just turns turns and turns very constant. it is like it is not getting any gas but it is. Just no spark
so maybe the tfi module?
I never say anything bad about Fords, but, check your ignition module, they are natorious in these cars.
ignition module as in where is it located?
or what does it look like???
on the 84 im not sure if its on the distributor or not. if it is, its a large plastic piece with a wiring harness attached to it. it might be on the driver side fender as well, if so large metal box (grey in color) with Ford EEC number on it and a whooper sized harness
tfi module looks like this:
tfi test info here:http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/TFI_Diagnostic.html
try the grounding of pin 5 test should help you
yea i knew what the tfi module looked like. I just havent heard it called the ignition module. and thanks for the link for testing it !!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully I can find a ride to test it out
