Title: Factory exhaust hanger advice
Post by: armyguy298 on August 30, 2005, 10:41:59 PM
I know we prbably beat this topic to death, but I tried searching and nothing came up.

I purchased a BBK X-pipe assembly, factory 'Stang headers, and going to follow it up with a Flowmaster cat-back system with the 50 series lers, and O2 sensor extensions (BBK).

My question... After crawling under the car to see what I am getting myself into heres what I see. I do have the double hump crossmember, but not 2 rubber exhaust hangers at the end of the transmission. Where can I get the hanger?  I will relocate the fuel filter assembly as far forward as I can get it. I am pretty sure I will be okay because the 50 series Flowmaster ler is only 9.75" wide. I also understand the car does not have factory hangers on the passenger side. Where can I get these; or retrofit something very similar. I do not want to half ass something up there, thats why I am asking for factory hangers. What do you guys think and do you have any suggestions? I have read Eric's very informative article on the dual-exhaust setup so I think I may have all the bases covered. Thanks!

Exactly what I was looking for. Never would have it myself!  ANy thoughts on the hangers behind the axle? Or just look for a left side hanger and make it fit the right side?

That hanger will only work if you have a manual transmission installed.  Otherwise you will need a hanger made for an automatic.  Trust me.  I learned this from personal experience underneath my own car.

I checked 50resto.com and all they had was the manual transmission hanger. I will keep scouring the 'net for the correct piece. I will not be buying those 93 n.o.s. hangers through ebay, they have em for 10 bucks on 50resto.com.

I couldn't find any companies that had them for sale when I was looking.  I ended up buying mine from cougarman here on the board.

Is it because every mustang has dual exhaust? Im sure those guys wanted dual exhaust too. I just need to find out where their secret stash is. :deal:

Do you have the single hanger on your transmission? If so flip it 180 degrees and tweek it up slightly. That's what I did on mine because finding a dual hanger was difficult. Turned out to work pretty decent.
Just an idea for ya.

YEs, I have a single hanger. You are saying that it needs to be tweaked because of the single exhaust position compared to the duals?
