Title: car wont start
Post by: mike969mb on August 30, 2005, 07:39:48 PM
Just tried to start my tbird and it hasn't started, been a few weeks since i've tried. Strange first time car has ever had any problems starting, car sat a year before i had it and started right up. doesn't sound like the starter and the battery is brand new and working great. What could it be? Makes a clicking noise but dont sound like the starter?

Bad starter solenoid, loose connection involving starting related wiring. Make sure all your plug wires are snug, including the one from the ignition coil to the center of your distributor.

If he want's to break it, sure go for it. The hammer trick applies to when the actual starter it's self is stuck (granted there may a situation or 2 where hitting the solenoid would work). In this case you'd want to (and I hope I state this the right way) short the positive and negative terminals together with a screwdriver. If it doesn't go, that puts you closer to solving the problem.
