Post by: 32VFoxBird on August 18, 2005, 11:30:58 PM
like the title says

i bought some mustang rear shocks, and found out they were too short. i just wanted to know if this is the case for the front struts.

btw- im talking about the 79-93 struts

or is it better to use the sn95's?

Short answer, NO.  Long answer, YES, BUT, you will have to run mustang gt/lx or turbo coupe front brakes...this is because of the difference in thicknesses of the spindles.  The 3.8L and 5.0L t-birds as well as 4-cyl 'stangs all use the same front brakes and the spindles are too wide at the strut mounting point when compared to the turbo coupe or 'stang gt/lx spindles.  IF you decided to swap out to the larger style brakes, PM me, I just did the upgrade a few months ago and could walk you through step by step.

Good luck,
Don

lakewoods come with a set of shims for the narrower 5.0/3.8 spindles
or they used to  :hick:

Mustang shocks can be made to fit with a simple modification to the mounting brackets. Here's a thread on the subject:
