I'll give you a gallon of gas for one. Guaranteed to go up in value :D
especially premium...
What are the features of a tripminder? Im intrested in one thanks man lmk.
I know they give you isntantaneous fuel economy, miles traveled, average speed, max speed and some other things... I might be wrong though.
all kinds of stuff
date, time, month, instant fuel milage, average fuel milage, gallons used, average MPH, trip distance, elapsed time, and i think thats it right now
pop your glovebox door out, and see if you have the connector for the clock harness, if you do, itll be a plug and play setup
sweet. you know, i looked in 2 salvage yards around my area shawn and couldnt find a single one of them. did you ever find out if all of the features work in the base cars, or more importantly, a sport like mine?
They work in my car (base '88 5.0 'Bird), but I was lucky enough to have the clock harness. As Shawn says, you'll have to open your glove box, squeeze the sides together to drop the door all the way, and see if you've got the connector. Some cars have it, some don't, and there doesn't appear to be a pattern - it's luck of the draw.
Even if you don't have the harness it's still an easy install - much easier than, say, installing a CD player...
but do all of its features work......? i like the idea....
i tried it in my 3.8L bird, and it was no dice, but people like Carm and one or two other people have it working, so who knows, ford does some mysterious stuff
it wouldnt be hard to make work either way, i just havnt done it in my TC yet
Yes, all of the features work. After I installed mine and made a thread about it somebody emailed me to tell me that when they installed one in their 88 XR7 the fuel economy options didn't work, so they had to run a wire from the engine computer (pin #34). They had the clock connector, and the fuel flow wire was there, but somewhere between that connector and the computer it was disconnected. When they ran their own wire it worked perfectly. I forget who it was that emailed me and have long since deleted the email...
*EDIT* Here's the original tripminder thread. I suggest reading all of it because there's some very important info inside:
