Title: Worn bushing in AOD tailhousing?
Post by: 87 3.8 CAT on August 11, 2005, 11:08:03 PM
I have been seeing several comments lately in other threads that keep leading me back to my tailshaft in my AOD tranny. I changed my u joints about 3 months ago, and noticed too much play in the yoke and driveshaft going into the tranny. The bushing is obviously worn, and should be replaced, but I'm concerned that I will get myself into something that will cause me a great deal of heartache. Another new experience for me, and you guys have helped me through several already, so if I follow the procedure for replacing the bushing by pushing the old one forward, what do I have the potential of screwing up? Sound stupid??

My luck seems to draw me into spending many dollars fixing what I screwed up while trying to fix something else. If this truly is an easy fix, I'm all over it. If not, I'm leary. Advice from anyone??

I was going to take up this task on my 90 XR7.  However, I just took it to the dealer and the them do it.  I cost me I believe just over or under 150 bucks.  Saved me to the headache of having to re-do it later on.  I don't know if hte procedures are that much different on the MN12 to the Fox

I'm trying to put together everything I need to redo the front end (tie rod ends, bushings, etc.) and thought I might as well get this done also. I've got a little time but want to try to get it soon.
