Title: Ridin' on chrome!
Post by: blu84302 on August 03, 2005, 08:37:33 PM
Was a Blue 84 302, now it's flat black with rims that are kinda chrome/rust/brake dust.  Always a work in progress, but it's commin along nicely.

Does the rims look alright?  Do you think it's stupid that they stick out the side of the car real far?  I'm pretty sure they're made for a FWD vehicle, but the guy had them on a ranger and i didn't think it looked bad.

So do you think the rims are stupid?  It's still better than what i use to have, but i can't help to think it's not cool on the bird.  Is it alright that they stick out from the fenders?

Now for a trip down memory lane.  The first two pics are what i had to start with....

Yeah those wheels are sticking out about 3-4 inches to far IMO. Other than that you're making progress... I didn't even recognize your car until you posted the older pics. Uhm... where did they go?

I agree with darkthunder, the rims need to go... asap. They just don't fit. Look on the brightside though. You have a nice 5 lug conversion now and have a HUGE selection of rims.. Not like use 4luggers that are stuck with mostly factory style wheels..

Yeah, they're sitting a little too far out for my taste. But it's still better than an MN12 Bird I came across yesterday. If I only had a camera to take a picture.  :yuck:  It reminded me of the pimped out 92 XR7 Cougar model that Revell put out a while ago.

I call the style "skateboarding"  it handles like a dream.  I've played around with the idea of making it kinda like a Trans AM racer, and getting some big ol' fenderflares for it.  Still can't decide if i like the wheels or not... starting to lean towards "maybe not"...

Paint looks  good, but those wheels and the tailpipes sticking way out would bug me to no end if I did that to one of mine. But hell, it bugs me that my Mark has two different exhaust tips. I'm just annoyed by stupid things, I guess. Comes with being the official "L*O*S*E*R" around here. :D (Eric said so!)

If you want wheels that look *somewhat* like that, and you have a five-lug conversion, would LSC wheels work for you? I don't know the offset, unfortunately. (although I could measure 'em tomorrow, wouldn't be much to pull one off the '88)

I want some of those gold 16 inch lincoln rims.  I still need springs before i change anything else... i have a total of 4 of the spring helper packages in the back so that's top o the list.  But the paint job is spray paint... and it was windy, don't be fooled, it's flat black but i sprayed it down to give it some shine.

Good progress, but those wheels will eat your wheel bearings in short order.

Well if that's rattle-can work, it's even better quality given the materials. I've done a lot of random rattle-canning on my cars, and not come anywhere near that kind of reflectivity and what not.

:nono: please loose the wheels reminds me of the 80's when everything had reverse spoke rims :toilet:

I have to say no on the wheels. That is way old school.

Try to stay away from big speed bumps, especially with a car full of friends, or you'll be looking for new fenders.

No and yes. I like the rest of the car, though. ;) But if I saw that car around town, I'd laugh at it. I happen to think a wheel should never stick out beyond the fender. Otherwise, you have wheel gap a mile high just to give yourself room for susp. travel. Plus, you end up throwing rocks and shiznit at other peoples' winshields.

coming along nicely except for the reverse offset rims.. not to my taste, too much 1993 minitruck for me, and like that it is bad for your wheel bearings cause the weight doesn't sit right.

Well i love the feedback.  I retook pictures and hopefully this will give you a better idea of what it's like in person.  The other pics were when the car was wet and i think the glossy look makes them look stupid.  This is what it looks like just flat black.  I can't help but think i will keep them, cause i don't think it's that bad.  I kinda like the stance still.  :sorry:

really gives it a 4x4 truck look. I kinda like it though. If they didnt poke out that much it would be cool.

I heard a long time ago that that was illegal down here.. (having the tires poking out past the fenders) but I see so many people doing it, I don't know. Don't know how it is up there either.

I just have to compliment haystack for being a punk rawker.

Rancid is the greatest band ever!

And on to more about logan ohio.  The cops are stupid, and will pull you over for everything under the sun, however i haven't gotten pulled over for the rims or the loud pipes.  Since i've been ticketed for everything else i guess the rims and the pipes are legal. :D  But i hope to have a new burnout video soon.  I want to show the car in motion.  Plus i really don't mind having bald tires since i don't drive the car cause it gets me pulled over everytime.

All in all, i don't mind the 4x4 look since it's still pretty low to the ground.  I consider this car a beater and the header panel is messed up from me rampin the  outta it on some dirt hills.  And i gotta mention that this car use to have hydros on it so my main goal was to keep it pimpin but still keep it stock.

now i have to go fight the urge to tear up that beautiful parkinglot that it next to my house.  (or just do it real fast and hope i don't get caught)

:hick:  John does run the hell out of that bird.  Seen burnouts and ramping and even been with him kinda rally racing the thing.  Oh and john call me up if you do the burnout video again I want to see it in person!

I need someone to video tape it... i'm pretty much free tomorrow!  But really... i do love the car, it's tough and reliable so it can take the abuse.  I can fix anything that i break so breaking it and fixing it gives me something to do!  That was a new header panel but i broke it... i'm gonna do such a burnout that it'll kill a tire or a tranny!  But definitly some blacktop! w00t.

Sorry to hear about your cougar.  Was it the tranny?
Don't give up on her yet, just remember it's a time of crisis and she needs you, and your wallet.
Title: Re: Ridin' on chrome!
Post by: cougrrr302 on August 06, 2005, 02:36:20 AM
Now master cylinder. I knew it was bad, no pressure. But i was stopped at a stoplight with cruizing with a girl i like and the brake light came on and the mc popped really loud. After that i had almost no pressure and the pads would squeak and grind really bad. Had to drive in 1st to get home. Well i guess now is the time to get that fixed and also to pop in a new alternator, since my system has virtually screwed it up. Tranny whines real bad and I had it worked on, one of the valves was unbolted. Now she whines and it gets annoying.

Does your chick like your car?  Even if it breaks down it's still pimpin.  It's a v8, they can't complain!

Anyway, i let my g/f drive my car once, and it died... But really it was my fault, cause i wanted her to experiance the love i had for my bird.  I told her to do a burnout and it didn't work out so good... (see pic).  But still, the girls don't have to love the cars, even it they break down they still have no right to hate you for it.  It's your love of cars not hers, and when you fix it they will just love you more cause you know how to do something they won't.  And girls always look for a guy who can fix cars, cause it's one less thing they have to pay for if they don't have too.

Luckly my girl loves my new bird, and will ride in it with me, even if the tranny goes out, or the brakes don't work, or the rear end goes out 5 times, or the wheel falls off, or the windshield is broke, or the headlights don't work, or the electrical shorts out, or the battery dies, or it starts overheating, or if i blow a tire (or 3) or if it's got to be towed home 5 times in 1 week, or the tranny goes out again, and agian, and even when it had no springs and her s flopped everywhere.  All of these are true...

But still, she'll love ya as long as you got A ride.  Don't matter if it breaks all the time.
Right guys?  or girls?

I agree the wheels are horrible....

Not only that... they are dangerous and TOTALLY illegal....
I dont know for you in the US, but here, if a cop see you with those, Inspection it will be!

I saw an idiot with a Hundai Excell with similar wheel and a Airplane wing with the tire out the fenders...
And he tought he was cool....  :yuck:

Nice work on the rest of you car tho... But definatly the wheel must go...

I think the guy you are talking about is DJ Delux. You know, the guy who comes out in those commercials at the movie theater. "Its Delux!! Its Delux!! He is one up on these wheels. He has spinner hubcaps.

Take a look at this video and tell me it doesn't kick a little ass...  i can't help but love the wheels when the car is moving.  It just gives me an orgasm everytime i see my car in motion.  I love the stance to much not to have them stickin out, but i don't like the wires.

But if you like it, what does it matter what I or anybody else thinks.

I guess that does look pretty pimp,..... But i really dont like the way that the fenders look so recessed. I do like the way that the tires look.

if you're like me the only time you get to see your car driven is in a video, cause you know better to let anyone else but you drive it!

so naturally, my car videos are like porn... and i love my car porn!  :sorry:  :screwy:

I agree with that 110% :rollin:
I can't tell you how many times I've gone outside, put the video camera on the ground, gotten into my car and moved it around the driveway to end up backing by the camera and revving it.
Then I go in the house and watch it over and over in surround sound. It's freakin' awesome!!
One thing you can't get out of your car when you drive it. The ability to hear what everyone else hears. . . but amplified.
