DO NOT RUN YOUR CAR WITH THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED!!!!!

This can cause voltage spikes that can instantly destroy electronics including radios, engine computers, actuators and sensors.

If you've got a 1960 VW Beetle go ahead and pull a battery cable off. Do not do it with any more modern car. Even a non-EFI car has electronics somewhere.

i just need an answer.... we are troubleshooting...........
so doing this is needed.

with a full battery , taking off the battery cable has less of an affect than a low battery.

It should, but this is not a healthy thing to do to your car.  The battery is the source of current for all loads, at all times. The alternator only ever serves to establish and maintain the battery's state of charge.  A healthy alternator can shoulder the burden, but it could kill itself in the process, especially if underdrive pulleys are involved (or incorrectly sized pulleys that came installed on parts store brand alternators).
