Title: Engine Clean Up Progress
Post by: Ether947 on July 27, 2005, 09:15:51 AM
When I first bought this car the engine bay wasn't TOO bad... but it wasn't great either. Pretty similar to the pic below minus the headers, wires, and other things.

Then I thought I would get alitte fancy... lol, with red FRPP wires instead of those bright yellow Accel ones, some MM C/C Plates and that silly air cleaner that was probably empty. xD

Finally got some filtered air in there, painted the valve covers red (did not like it!) clean up some parts, got rid of the equal lengths for some H.O. stockers annnndd, that's it.

Today we have said good riddens to 2 BBL carburation, E5 heads, stock Mustang headers, valve covers, and upside down air cleaner lid. In favor of Ported E7s, Ported Stealth Intake, Holley 600, Longtubes, Partially painted engine bay (ran out of paint),

Painted blue intake low gloss black. Same on the valve covers.

I think it's turning out quite nicely. I just need to paint the areas I missed with the next couple coats and the engine block. I am going to attempt to paint the headers black with high temp paint, but I don't know how well it will hold up.

Tis all for now, what do you thinks?

It looks good.  Get some loom on those wires and it will look really clean.

Looms are good. Just be sure the loom doesn't "fall" onto your headers or you'll get a nice melted goopy mess. I know from experience unfortunately. :shakehead Clean-up looks really good so far.

Wire looms are on the list. Black ones of course. I may play my hand at hiding the wires altogether. Most of my driving problems have come from someone else wiring job. A re-wire is definately in order. Thanks for checking it out. :)

i ended up painting my flowmaster 40 series ler in that high temp paint and it burned off really quickly. so idk if there is a special way to have it set up or not.

I've heard that POR 20 works really good on headers.

Looks really good. I'm interested to know how you're going to paint the block with it sitting in the car though? If it can be done I might get off my but and break out some Ford blue paint. Then again I have a sefi 5.0 so moving all those wires to paint would probibly suck.

That's the stuff.  A friend of mine painted the headers on his 360 Ramcharger about a month ago and it still looks new.  He said it's the best stuff he's used.
