Title: Had a small fire now my cougar won't start.

X These wires come off this connected and go to the ignition coil. I repaired the connector now the car won't start. I was thinking that when the wires shorted out it took out the cars pcm as well.

Check your fuses and fusible links.

i will let you know what connector that is,, i labled these for my son on our build.

fyi,, its really hard to simply kill these computers.

i will look for my gray 8 pin connector that includes the colors i see in your pic.

i noticed and repaired this wriing on my car as well due to improper insulation rating being installed from the factory.

After checking everything I possibly could think of on Sunday I go to the car this morning and it fired right up. It's crazy. I have no clue why it wouldn't start yesterday. I didn't change anything today but it's running. I took a video but can't figure out how to post it from my phone.
