Title: My 84 Cougar
Post by: go six on July 19, 2005, 10:47:21 AM
Great site, been visiting it for some time and just registered. Thought I'd share a couple pics of my cougar with you since I enjoy the pics of all your rides. I painted this car for a friend about 10 years ago and just recently aquired it from him. It's getting a little rough around the edges but still looks good going down the road.

Hey that looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Especially for a ten year old paint job. A set of Cobra Rs would really spice things up. xD Welcome to the site. :D

It is viper blue, it also has painted headlamp covers but the velcro that holds them on needs replaced. Cobra r's would look good on there if anyone wants to donate a set. I had the  rims and tires from my 85 tbird (long term project car) just sitting there so on they went.

G.T. 351 eh? Does it have a 351? If it does I think you're going to need some fatter tires or pretty soon ya won't have any rear tires.

The friend I aquired it from had a 351 in it, and then he had the side stripes put on. Then he had a 393 in it. But he sold the 393 to fund other projects and then it sat for quit some time until now. It currently has a tired 302 in it with an aod. Maybe by next spring I'll have my 289 and t-5 setup ready.

go six,
Very sweet car!  Kinda the Shelby Cougar they never built, huh?  Hey, nobody else said anything or noticed, but I caught the '85/'86 taillights.  Dumb question, but are they functional?  I've heard it's not an easy project to convert an '83/'84.

Hey, with a 289, it'll really be a Shelby GT350 clone.  Any chance it's a K-code?

I must say that I actually like the look of the 8 holes with your paint scheme.  Very nice!

If by functional you mean do they light up, yes. The hole for the most inside bulb needed to be elongated and a few new holes for the mounting studs are required, not all the studs from the 85 lights are being used, I think four on each light. I don't remember but I think the 84 harness works.
