Got my 5.0 in my car now and with my UPR k-member there are two slots to pick for the motor mounts. I set the motor in on the forward slots at first and the motor looked to far forward, had very little clearance between waterpump pulley and rad, hoses had a kink in them and the gap between the back of the motor to the firewall seemed huge to me.
I pulled the motor and moved it to the rear slots and everything looked normal to me. Hoses fit better and I could now fit my fan. At this point I started hooking everything else up under the hood. When I put the car in the air to install the t5 is when I noticed that the front sump on the oil pan was touching my rack. Clearly the motor is to far back now.
Im wondering if anyone can take a measurement from the firewall to somewhere on your 5.0 like the back of the efi upper,or to center of the dist or any common spot so I can compare where my motor is sitting. I have a feeling this UPR k-member isnt putting the motor in the factory location.
Is the rack still installed with the factory bushings? Lots of Mustang guys have had to use UPR's offset bushings to get the rack to clear.
I have Energy Suspension bushings {non offset} in the rack. I ended up pulling the motor 6x before I found the most clearance. I thought I had the motor mounts on wrong side but it turned out the very first time I installed the motor was the best way so its all good now.
