Looking for the plastic shift rod that goes through the shifter. Apparently mine is worn out and no longer functioning properly. If anyone has one please PM me asap.

There's not going to be many available. The shifters are tuff to come by, let alone the parts for one. Try putting a small nut or something on top. before you put the handle on. Or add a ball like I said in your post. You have nothing to lose. Experiment. It won't take much to make it work. I don't know maybe a stang shifter may use the same thing.
