Title: Odometer and trip meter quit.
Post by: Bobbydsp on May 25, 2016, 01:33:36 PM
1996 XR7 speedo still works. If any have experienced this please tell me if it is possibly a ground problem. I am pondering taking the instrument module out and polishing all the contacts to see if that will fix it. The tranny sensor must be working because speed is still indicated. Any help is appreciated.

Generally that's a gear failure inside the cluster... Lots of Fords of that era had same issues...

Thanks. I will try to find one in a wrecking yard. I may also get a new electronic speedo. Do not know how that would look.

I ordered the two gears that most likely are the problem today. Southern Electronics is the business I ordered them from Just so happens they have a store here in Richmond, VA. I will post my results when I get the job done.
