this morning i tried to start my '88 5.0L to prepare for the first ride of the year and the car don't make any spark from the coil. I tried my new accel super coil, plugged red wire on + and green wire on - and nothing, do i have to interchange wires or remove the inline resistor on green wire? Yesterday it just ran fine and today no spark, really frustrating.
Any kind of help is appreciated as i never plugged aftermarket supercoil on any kind of car and don't know much of ford ignition.:toilet:
The stock coil is probably fine, they rarely fail on these cars. It's probably your ignition module (the little gray plastic "box" on the side of the distributor).
Have you checked the primary and secondary windings on the old coil ?.feed coming to the coil?. Do you have a tfi module if so my money would be on that.
Or, we could actually see what's wrong instead of throwing money out the window.

Do everything here and you will either be driving away or know what's wrong in 10 minutes.
While your at it, run codes. I run codes with a paperclip. Any questions, come back and we will be glad to help.
finally the car started and the coil was ok but at first when i did the tests of the sbf page it drove me to a bad coil. put another one and bam it started, reinstalled previous coil and it's fine. Kinda bizzare situation:wtf:
1000 to 1 on the TFI...
I've replaced one tfi module and pip out of 11 cars I've owned. And I replaced a msd aftermarket tfi module that had failed.
I'm with Tom.....the TFI is going out.
At least get a spare, some contact goop, and the little socket to swap it. It WILL fail, usually when you least need it to happen. ;)
