Title: Help with Type Of Thermostat for 3.8 V-6 Engine
Post by: bossman on April 06, 2016, 02:40:38 PM
Hi Guys
I wanted to get a new thermostat for the 3.8 V-6 motor but everyone I ask gives a different model so I do  not know which one is correct?

here is a list of thermostats I have been given

Are they all correct for the car?

84 V6 thunderbird Thermostat compatability list

Stant 13009      180 degree ??  list says 195 degrees

GATES 33508  192 degree

Gates 33509  ??

motorad 7244-192 fail safe thermostat

MotoRad High Performance Thermostat - 2000-195

Motorad 244-192  192 degree

Motorad 200-195 195 degree Thermostat

NAPA 269

Can anyone suggest a good ( thermostat model # ) for the car?

Those are just different manufacturers.  They should all work.  Avoid the fail safe and go the a 192-195 degree unit for a stock application.

DO NOT use a fail safe thermostat. See here as to why: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?39214-engine-running-too-cool-*solved-installed-non-failsafe-tstat
