My father found a junkyard in Stanley, NC that just happened to be a 70s and 80s Ford paradise. The junkyard is no longer in business, the couple who owns it of old age and very sick. My dad met the couple because he is a cable technician for TWC. You can only get parts from them if you know them, and luckily my dad hit it off with them.
While my dad searched the yard, he found 3 87-88 Thunderbirds and 2 83-86 thunderbirds. Basically, there is a great deal of parts the people on this forum would want/need. He opened the door of one of the Thunderbirds, and he discovered a brand new, still in the box 87-88 LH headlight. We couldn't find the RH, but the chances are pretty small of coming across a brand new headlight for our cars I would assume because they have been discontinued all across the board.

That is one sweet find
I miss finding these cars at salvage yards......or anywhere else for that matter. Nice score on the light.
^^ Amen!
I remember like 20 years ago, there were probably 40+ fox tbird/cougars in my local junkyard, not to mention an uncountable sea of fox mustangs. Go west one city, and another large junkyard had about the same stock. Now? None.
Hopefully with the s prices so low, they'll hold up on crushing stuff so fast (hey, a guy can dream...).
Found one of my Cougar headlamps in similar fashion. On a shelf, brand new in the box, at the local yard. 10 bux....
The last Fox Thunderbird to appear in a salvage yard around me was in December of 2013. One finally showed up this January (2016). There was a base 87 Cougar this past summer but it was trashed with no usable parts.
I keep looking......and hoping......
I'm still looking forward to Aril when I get my TC out again. Got a fresh set of lenses to install from a very nice looking car. Be nice to see the road again. Fogs were brighter than my headlights were. We just had a yard close last month a short drive from me. Once in a while they would get a fox body in but the lights were on the last two that I saw there.
Dads never quit trying to make their sons happy. Still looking for another one son❤️
There are a couple salvage yards in central Kansas that have several Fox T-Birds, and a few Cougars. They also have a few Mustangs, Fox LTDs, and Fairmonts.
