Been awhile since I was on here. My car is really working on my last nerve. I have a high speed drivetrain vibration that I can't seem to shake. I put a different 5.0 in it and changed to a t5 trans. I'm running chuck w's motor mounts with a prothane trans mount. I put a new tail shaft pushing in trans along with a new slip yoke it helped some but not a lot. I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue. Dose the t5 have a different driveshaft angle that's messing with my pinion angle??
Any insite on this would be amazing!!!
Does it do it on jack stands with the rear wheels moving?
Bonne had a vibration that he chased for quite a while. I think his ended up being a bent driveshaft.
Never checked it that way I'll have to see if it dose that
Does it vibrate while revving the engine with the car in neutral? If yes then it's engine related.
Does it vibrate at certain speeds? Could be driveline or wheel related. If it vibrates while running at speed on jack stands then it's driveline related.
What rear gear ratio is in your car? If it's 3.55-4.10 gear you'll get vibrations out of the stock drive shaft. No amount of balancing will fix the issue. You'll probably have to replace the stock steel driveshaft with an aluminum one to clear up the vibrations.
Well I took the shaft to get checked out I twisted it. What are u guys running for aluminum or should I get a heavier steel one built. Running 3:73 rear
Unfortunately there are no off the shelf aluminum driveshafts for our cars. I had a local driveline shop (ah the benefits of living in a large metropolitan area) make a 3.5" aluminum driveshaft with Spicer 1350 u-joints for ~$400.
I took a Crown Vic cop car aluminum driveshaft down and had it shortened and balanced. The shaft was free at the yard, the actual work on it was about $140
This is probably the most economic route. I tend to overbuild (and overspend :hick:) things when I replace driveline parts. That way if I ever get around to building that 363 I want nothing behind it will break....
I also used the crown vic drive shaft and had it cut down, joints and balanced, but I chasing a noise and vibration now, but I am leaning towards my pinion angle.

Quick turnaround time and it's an awesome piece as well. It helped me remedy a driveline vibration I was experiencing after going from 2.73's to 3.73's and lowering the car.
I ended up having them build me another steel one. The shop its at don't do aluminum ones and I didn't feel like waiting. I also ordered the Che preformance adjustable uppers to correct pionion angle I already have Kenny brown lowers on the car. The uppers were the only stock part left and have 240k miles on them so in sure this bushings are shot. I wanted to do them when I did the bushings on the rear but decided not to to save money and here I an screwing with it again. This project since august of 2014 has cost me so much money I hope this fixes it. With a baby on the way the last thing I need is this thing continuing to be a money pit
Did you check the pinion angle? If so, how far were you off?
I've had a high speed vibration for a few months now. Come to find out, my u-joints were toast. Replaced them tonight and now my car is smooth as ever.
