Title: So you can buy brand new Mustang Tri-Bar wheels now.....
Post by: thunderjet302 on January 30, 2016, 12:13:44 PM
Apparently someone decided that it would be a good idea to reproduce the 93 Cobra R and 94-95 Mustang GT Tri-Bar wheels in 4 and 5 lug: https://lmr.com/products/mustang-93-cobra-r-tri-bar-wheels-7993

These things were ugly in the mid 90's are are still ugly today. Why do't they do reproductions of the 94-96 Mustang Cobra 17 inch wheels in 4 or 5 lug? Those were attractive wheels. Or maybe even some 17"x8" or 17"x9" 86-93 "10 hole" wheels. That would be cool. Tri-Bars? No thanks.

Tomato...tomato...

As far as the ten hole wheels in a bigger size, there once was a thread here that discussed it..I remember it, I posted in it. Probably an 8 year old thread, at least..

The tri bar wheels were always available in 5 lug...the '93 R was/is a 5 lug beasty.

I know Tri-Bars were always 5 lug (introduced on the 93 Cobra R). I was unaware that there was a huge demand for a 4 lug version.

Like many of the SN95 wheels, the tri-bars seem to look better on a Fox than the original recipients.  I think they look good in black with the bright lip and centre cap as done on the 93 Cobra R.

cheers

Latemodel resto brings back a lot of these 80s/90s ideas.  Keep in mind, they were originally Fox enthusiasts only.

Someone is bound to buy them and see how they look.  They may "start a thing".

Agreed, if someone were to offer the 10-holes in 5-lug that would clear 13" Cobra brakes, I would be first in-line to buy a set. :mullet:

I remember it as well. Not sure if it was on here or on the Four Eyed site, but I think the main issue that came up with making the 10-hole wheel in a 17" size is that it would most likely distort the look of the wheel too much since you would have to enlarge the "holes" to compensate for the difference in diameter.
I think that the main target group for a 17" 10-hole wheel is the guy that wants get the benefits of decent brakes and tires, but still keep that factory look. If the end result doesn't look like the stock one, then it probably will miss the sales target to make them worth doing.
