Title: Will it run right without this?
Post by: Cornfed85 on November 13, 2015, 03:01:40 AM
Hey all,
I'm wanting to remove the smog pump from my '85 3.8
Will the computer allow the engine to run right without the smog pump attached? I'm having to remove the system to get at the exhaust manifold bolts, and thought maybe I'd just leave it all off. Thanks!

I have an '88 5.0 car, but my pump was one of the first things to go.....No issues at all.

I ran a shorter belt and even passed emissions that way, till they failed me for a visual when they noticed it wasn't spinning.

Technically you should remove and cap the air injection tube. Mine have always been rotted out. I just left them there for the "visual".
