Title: Rough Engine Idle with Air Conditioner Running
Post by: Alan87bird on October 10, 2015, 08:05:35 AM
Has anyone dealt with the problem of the engine idling rather rough when the air conditioner is running.  Once I pull off from a stop, she purrs like a kitten.  At idle it pulses.

The idle is supposed to raise when the a/c is engaged. Does it go up, or does it drop from normal idle? Could be that the idle-air controller/bypass is maxed out and can't allow in more air, or not working correctly. It's also possible something is going on with the a/c compressor?

Which engine does your car have?

The engine is the V6.  And, yes it does idle lower when the compressor kicks in.

Take the air cleaner off and verify that the idle speed control motor plunger moves.
Check the ISP motor adjustment.
