I have tried but this is the best I can get the corner of the coin tray to line up with the dash radio bezel, is this correct?

by this picture, looks like I need to adjust forward some more, have to try and see, worried about 2nd and 4th gear hitting console. I don't like that little gap I see on that corner.

Try a little adjusting. I use the older full length console in my '88. Had to do some minor plasic tpuppies where the front "ears" of the console line up under the dash, but it looks like it was born with the car now. Minor tweaking.
