Title: Does computer control the speedometer?

I'm swapping out the 3.8 in my '85 T-Bird. I might be going with an engine that doesn't require a computer. I'm just wondering what that would do to my digital speedometer? If so, how could I remedy this?

No, the computer and the speedometer both get their signal from the VSS directly, and not one from the other.
