I'm swapping a tranny for a 98 Cobra for someone and I noticed that the dogbone on the rear is bouncing all over the place when I was taking off the driveshaft. So I'm looking for one
thanks
What is a dog bone?
The weight on a 8.8 rear that's shaped like a dog bone.. It has something to do with harmonic damping of the drivetrain frequency that occurs in the drivetrain.. There's a paper written that explains it..written by Jerry the ford engineer responsible for the j-mod..
my source thread (post #14).. hope it's good info, would hate to be that guy(lol).

oh. I called that extra weight and torched it off and put axle braces and welded it from holes to the tubes. My bud has some 8.8's laying around ill check.
Should interchange between all of the 8.8" axles.
cheers
Ed

Sorry I miss your post somehow.
It's the dogbone weight in the picture. Send me a paypal price for everything that the weight uses to bolt on the rear (nuts, bolts.. etc) shipped to 19102.

Bob
