Title: Explorer Intake vacuum lines... Car idling badly... Help
Post by: GDawg148 on August 15, 2015, 04:03:44 PM
I just need some help on what I can cap off and what I absolutely need to run so that the car will idle better.

If I put my finger over the larger hole, the car shuts off.  So I know I need to run it.

Thank you!

Are you maf already?

There shouldn't be any vacuum leaks or un capped ports at all. Everything before should be hooked up.

Just cover any vacuum ports you're not using with vacuum caps. That's pretty much it.

Edit: Does this help?

I have yet to convert the car to MAF, but I have everything needed to.  Could that be the reason for the funny idling?

What is the meaning of the tape?  Are those the places that can be capped off?

Stock configuration vacuum lines.....

If you're having an issue where the car shuts off by capping a vacuum source that has been deleted and have not removed the MAP sensor from the equation, you need to reset the base idle.  Leaving that port open to the atmosphere is introducing a rather large vacuum leak.....

Since you are still running Speed Density, it is necessary to run the line to the MAP sensor.

A B303 cam is going to run really choppy on SD. I'm a bit suprised it idles at all.

Been following this thread. I notice GDawg's signature says he has a "58mm throttle body" ?? Shouldn't he be running a 65 mm? Could this be part of the problem?

Nope. A too small throttle body won't cause that issue. A B303 cam/SD/vacuum leak will though.
