Hey everyone. I've been lingering around these boards for over a year and just registered a few weeks ago. I figured it was time to finally post something. I finally found time to take some pics of the new thunderchicken I received couple weeks ago for graduation. It's mostly stock now, but thats slowly going to change. It has about 70,000 miles on it and the body is in fairly good condition. I was surprised to find it in such good condition. There is only minor rust above the trim on the drivers side read quarter panel and the passenger side rear wheel well, and a dent below the trim. But other than those few spots, the body is in great condition.
These are a few pics of the new bird...

This last one is a good pic of the lighted exhaust tips. They are wired to light up with the brake lights. It's just an added effect that most people don't expect.

I have a lot of plans for this car. So far I've only really worked on the stereo, but once that is finished I'll move onto other areas. You can see more pics by going to this page

This is actually my second Thunderbird, my first one was an 88 Coupe with 147,000 miles on it. Too much was going wrong with it, so we had to get rid of it. Eventually I'll put up some pics of the old Thunderbird and tell a little bit about it. That's if I ever have the time or motivation. Until then I'll probably linger around these boards a bit more.

Clean Bird. Nice Paint! :D Welcome to the boards.
nice... welcome and can't wait to see what you do with it.
Looks clean, Shouldn't be to hard to touch up that rear bumper cover :)
Very nice bird. Welcome aboard! :D
Thanks for the comments. I'm trying to modify the car but still keep a clean look to it. And that bumper cover will get adresssed too... I knew I forgot to list something :)
tell me those aren't LED exhaust tips
car looks nice welcome
RICE!! RICE!! Okay, the exhaust tips would be OKAY if maybe all the bulbs were lit up, but half are burned out. Put a couple of chrome slashcut tips on there and it'd look awesome. Great car! I'm just not feeling the tips...
I wouldn't quite consider it rice... if it were rice there would be two big fart cannons out the back with a large aluminum wing above it. And all of the leds do light up. It's just since I took the pic during the day and didnt have a straight angle on the tips, a lot of them didnt pick up. I'll have to take a night shot to really show them off, the daylight pic doesnt do them justice.
Thanks again for the comments.
I have a little yellow poking out on my rear bumper also(http://tinypic.com/9a1wex.jpg)
nice looking sport, I like that color, what color is the interior?
The manual says the exterior is Medium Sandalwood, and interior is Light Sandalwood. So basically it's tan.
hey i like it anything that is different
true man like the car its clean kept personally to me this car only looks good stock of its black but to each his own, and skrew them and their comments on rice if you want it on your car its your car. ive gotten slack about my car from these guys but my geuss is most of them are over the hill and are too arrogant to admit that the import cars are infact better than our domestic cars.
over the hill? makes me laugh
how old do you think i am?
and for imports being better, explain...
I don't really mind the comments about rice. Everybody has their opinions and I understand where they are coming from. IMO, anything can look good on a car if done right. I've seen a lot of different T-Birds on this site that appeal to me and all of them are different. For example, I like a lot of the birds that are left fairly stock with only a little changed to the exterior, but I also like your GSTBird and 88SptCoupe's birds with the body kits. The greatest thing about owning a T-Bird of these years is that no matter what, the car is unique. I've probably only seen 2 or 3 other 87-88 T-Birds in my area over the past few years.
Over the hill?!?! If i'm over the hill, you must be 8 or 10 years old. And arrogant? Sorry if I don't share your thrill for the fast and the furious. It's not even a contest for import vs. domestic. I don't think there is any asian import (riceburners) that I would enjoy driving as much as my thunderbird. They have no style and ride like tin cans rolling down a hill. Compare our cars to the ricers of yesterday and tell me fox cars aren't superior.
Better yet compare our cars to an import from the same year. Now which one is better. Most of the imports that are 16 years old are piles of rust on wheels.
But now back to our original topic.
I think the car looks good. No I don't think the exhaust is rice its something my buddy wanted me to do to his car for quite a long time now.
Personaly the only think I would do is fix the paint on the rear bumper and find some 15 or 16 in rims.
Those are basically my plans for the exterior of this car. That, and to get the few small rust spots fixed. I'm not sure what type of rims i'd like to get though. Cobra-R's look pretty good, but I'm sure there are alternatives that would look just as good. For now I'm saving up to pay my parents back and to get a sweet stereo system. This car is going to be my money pit for a while, I can already see it.
