Title: advice needed bump steer kit
Post by: Nate on July 12, 2005, 11:26:33 PM
ok,  im like this close to makeing it to CJ with my car, and i need to get a bumpsteer kit to make up the difference in length of my outer tie rods. their  a bit to short, so i found this kit on ebay and if i get the later modle mustang ones, (94-04)  they are the longest i found.... only thing is their a different thread.  think i should get them, and retap the bumpsteer kit aluminum sleeve for my inners, or go with the maximum motorsport kit thats 1/10th of an inch shorter in length and double the price. im not sure if the inner diameter of the sleve is the same eather.

You could swap inner (and outer) tie rods from an SN-95 onto your rack.

Do you "need" the bumpsteer kit, or are you just looking to make something longer?

I would not "retap" the kit parts....you'll just wind up with nice anodized paper-weights

yeah, well i lowered the car about an inch and a half... i think its still up in the air. but im leaning twards the MM kit sence im sure its far better quality and i can use the fox type threads and only scrafice the .1"  pluss i just replaced the entire suspension with new tubular stuff, or other aftermarket things so i want to cover all the baises. another thing is i didnt want to change the inner tierods, dont have the tool to do it, and they were just replaced along with the new rack about 2 years ago. tomorrow im gonna take some final measurments and try to make a desision.

why dont you use the mustang kit for 87-93 mustangs they use the same tie rods as a t-bird-cougar and actually 91 or newer mustang have more bumpsteer built into them stock also
