Hey guys, I was looking into this chip because after getting my car up and running, it's pretty rough when cold. It's idle is all over, and it likes to stall because it's running rich. I am thinking that this chip immediately followed by a dyno tuning session should bring everything altogether. But I could be wrong. I am wondering if anyone here is running this chip or if they think the chip plus a dyno session is a ticket to a well running car. Thanks for any input.
Here is the link to what I am looking at.

If the MAF is calibrated for the injectors then I would think you should be able to tune the car without a chip. Have you performed a base idle reset and checked for codes?

I have a Pro M mass air calibrated for my 24 lbs injectors. But im also running a ford racing f303 cam. So I'm not sure if that is playing a big role in it not running properly. However, I was unaware I could tune it by myself without a chip. How do you do a base idle reset?
You need tuning. The problem with a calibrated MAF is that all the correction is done by manipulating the size of the sample tube. Essentially you're spoofing the MAF signal, which is ok if A/F were the only thing the MAF was used for, but it's also used to calculate load, which is used to determine ignition timing advance. So you get incorrect spark advance. Most guys don't notice, because from a WOT takeoff the timing will curve out pretty ok, but it's from mid-throttle where you'll be flat or maybe even get misfiring or even spark knock.
Alright, I figured just with everything I did to it a tune might wrap it all together. How would you recommend I go about it? Should I get a chip then dyno session? I thought that was the only way to really tune these PRE OBD cars. But I could be wrong there too.
i got one of these for my bird. has a 347 aggressive heads and cams. it had a weird idle pattern to it. it would idle at about 800 slowly climb to 9, then 1000, then 1100, then 1200, then suddenly plummet back down to 800 within the span of about a minute. i couldn't myself ever get it to idle correctly. i tried that chip thinking it wouldn't make a difference, especially since they say they cant plan for a 347. and sure enough super smooth clean idle. i cant comment on performance gains. and ive only ever used their most mild setting, but it cured my problem. i never dynod it either, that was just filling out that long form they send you.

Wow. That sounds pretty promising. Yes, I'm not looking for huge power numbers by any means, I just want to tie everything together so I'm being nearly as efficient as I can be. Thanks for letting me know about your luck. How long ago did you get yours?
probably the middle of last summer. pretty easy install too. just take your time and follow the directions. only complaint is the tune adjuster is pretty cheap looking and pretty much impossible to mount. mines just laying in my glove box.
Alright cool. Thanks for the good info on it. It's nice to have someone who has actual experience with it rather than someone who knew someone who knew this one guys brother that went to school with his buddy's uncle who asked his one nephew if he'd knew anyone that tried it out. Know what I mean? Haha. Thanks Keith
