I don't believe so, it ONLY leaks when it's RUNNING. I think it's the steel lines going to/from the pump hangar assy.

Might be the return line...

Hint: If, rather when you drop the tank to repair...let it dry really good for a day or so..and be careful when you take the tank down so that any fuel remaining will not run off and onto your face...or eyes. Not personal experience, but an old guy told me once that it hurts like a real mother when you get gas in your eye(s)..I've no reason to doubt those words..

My 83 cougar leaked exactly like that. Matter of fact, that was the reason the previous owner wanted to get rid of it. The problem was, the return line had rotted off the top plate of the sender.

My buddy and I were working on a drag prepped fox mustang, were chasing problems with a fuel pump, buddy got 110 octane race fuel in his face. He took off running to the sink to wash it out

So, if it was the feed line, would it be GUSHING out, and/or stumbling/hesitating really bad or stalling?? I did the math, it's only getting like 7, (yes, SEVEN) mpg. :-O

Yeah, if it was the feed I would think you would feel some type of engine issues. Either way, feed or return, the fix is the same. Drop that tank and fix it :mullet:

Good time to replace the tank if it's an original. You can get one for about $100 shipped from Ebay.

Yeap, my 87 bird looked just like that at 187,451 miles... return line rotted at fuel pump housing.
