Post by: jandmmustangs on February 07, 2015, 12:30:49 PM
Since I'm pretty sure nobody started one for this year I figured I'd kick it off. Here we go
This car netted me a perfect tc bumper, grill, headlight bezels, and pair of marchals yes it has a few remnants of the fms body kit on it. They will be coming home tomorrow. Im digging this interior. Shame someone trashed the rear seat

No problem Rod. They got rid of the 83 base model bird that was there before Xmas. I'm upset about that. I snagged the drivers manual seat track out of it. I was pressed for time or I would have gotten the manual window assemblies and the passengers mirror delete parts.

If I was traveling for work all the time like I used to that wouldn't be a problem.

I live near about 10 junk yards. What you posted is more fox cat/birds than ALL of my yards combined. There is NOTHING around here. It's depressing, heh.
That's some mighty clean stuff. I'm jealous ;)

Eww. MN12. :hick:
I'm going to go in a couple or three weekends. Got a buddy going with, and am talking to another member here about his going too.
When it gets closer to time, I'll take a list of some stuff if anyone has any "orders". Probably can't get big stuff like front bumpers, but smaller stuff will be easy. Would really like to nab myself an efi 460 for my '84. I want a good one though as I don't really want to rebuild it, just change the intake and cam and put it my '84.

I'll be going back up this weekend pending snow or ice. If only want the cost of the parts and shipping plus cover my lunch (I'm a cheap date lol). Im assuming when you say cougar buttons you mean the c pillar emblems? Off the top of my head those parts would be under $20 at the u pull it. I'll touch base with you this weekend but feel free to text me before that if you'd like

I have a yard within 45 minutes that has well over 20 birds and cats. The pricing isn't super cheap but very fair. Jcassity has been there with me and bbcford had also gone. The place is a sight to behold.

My first 86 was a gs stripper model. Had ac(standard on the 5.0), 5.0, digital dash and rear window defroster. No passenger mirror, center console, completely blank cosolette. Didn't even have map lights.
Dunno why that car was so much better, but nothing ever broke, and dead stomping the pedal gave a one wheel peel till the 40mph shift. The motor mounts were still intact with 293k on it. I've been slowly trying to rebuild that car and got lucky finding another 86gs. It didn't have power anything except windows. I found a set of 84 manual doors and swapped them on.
Passenger mirror deleted was the last thing on the list. If i can stumble upon an 86 with digi dash this summer, i plan on cutting out the dash wiring and attempting the swap.

Keep an eye out for an 83 steel wheel like this. Something you can't find if you are looking for but keep tripping over if you don't need one. :hick: Prefer something in very good condition.

hmm,, and now it occurs to me,, we do have the steel wheel , somehow the importance of it wasn't so important tearing our car down.
now saying that I totally didn't even think at the time to "know" to look for the drop in plastic cubby where a typical doughnut resides.
I will have to get a pic of that wheel now ,, it was in our trunk upside down so I have no clue if its in "great shape"

What a strange way of putting the cars at the start of this thread. Sort of makes it hard to get many of the parts. Better start grabbing parts you will need in the future, won't be long before all the birds end up in China on a s metal shipment.

So today I went to one of the local P-N-P's to see what they had. This is what I scored for the wifes bird; 1 pair of 01 stang rear springs (just sitting under the car, rear axle was gone and didn't have time or the tools to get the fronts) 1 pair of un-cracked taillight lenses rear view mirror D/S door mirror glass Found the entire set-up to convert the wife's bird to a 5spd out of a 4cyl 93'stang HVAC controls for my bird.
I saw this beauty on my thru the yard, you can drive your vehicle in :roxor: I just had to stop and take a few pics There are notes all over it saying "No Pulling Parts From This Car"

Here's a short list of the fox bodies that are there. Unfortunately, all the run channels are hard and brittle and no good windshields but plenty of some body parts. 3 MKVII's 2 86 Cougars, not including the no touchie one 8 86-88 T-birds interiors aren't in too good of shape, some are down right nasty.

Where's the love???
I initially bought this as a parts car but after cleaning it up a little today I think it's gonna be a keeper. The engine turned by hand so after squirting some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders I pulled the coil lead and cranked it. Turns over nice. Reattached the coil lead and boom. Just cranks. Fugeddaboudit.....outta gas. A little ether and she fired up from a 16 year slumber.

Anybody been out to New Ringgold lately? Thinking of going out this Friday to scope out some Subaru stuff, look for a truck that has a 454 for my dad's Chevelle, and see if I can get super lucky and find an Aviator. Looking for fenders for the Cougar, among other things...like see if the spring hood hinges I saw are still there.

Geesh the last Fox Thunderbird/Cougar around here popped up in December of 2013. It was an 88 Thunderbird Sport with 168K on the clock. I grabbed the taillights, header, grill, and front bumper cover off of it. They are part of my emergency crash parts stash now.

Bust....2 foxes, one was that blue 4 eye from months ago, the other was an 87-88 TC and was picked clean of anything worthwhile. I'll be needing to arrange a meet up to look at those fenders. As long as the bottom corners of the wheel openings aren't rotting out like mine, I'll probably take them.
No Mark VIII's which is a first for me. No C-head Continentals, no Lincolns in the truck section...plenty of GT40 5.0 Explorers/Mountaineers...but I'm not going that route. If I had a truck I would have thought about having them pull one so I could bring it home, check it over, and resell.
Oh well...can't win every time.
