What do you guys suggest for really good 5.0 head gaskets?
Fel Pro
copper to be bullet proof ,,,
there is a particular gasket pn that is beefy'er",, gotta find where is stored that info though because I intend to use them on our build.
With a copper gasket, your block or heads let go before the gasket. Id rather have a fuse. Mainly applies to boosted engines though.
I have used standard issue Fel pro from Autozone and haven't had issues. Didn't know if they would be good enough or should I step up to the higher cost fel Pro gaskets?
Personally, id look at your ptv, quench, overall compression ratio and factor all of those things in. If you have plenty of ptv and wouldn't mind a slight (very slight) bump in compression, id look through all the part numbers one at a time, Google them to see what other people say, then run the one that fits best.
Overall, pretty much everyone just goes with a standard felpro unless the have oringed heads or are running boost.
PTV clearance is fine even with a standard Fel Pro gasket. i am putting new rings and bearings in the extra engine as well. I will go with the standard issue Fel Pro gaskets then.
Fel-Pro 9333PT1 are very good head gaskets, even though they are stock replacement HO gaskets. Probably some of the best out there. Use them and some ARP head bolts and you should be fine.
X2 on Lou's advice. I'm going to order a set of ARP bolts for my heads since I've been sick again and have made less progress than I had hoped for. Still have to get over to Fastenal for my plenum bolts... it..
I've got the Fel Pro HG's too, though I don't know whcih part number..have to look at 'em, but I'm barefooted, and it's snowing...so...maybe in a bit. LOL
I have ARP bolts on there now. I'll re-use them, and I wrote that gasket number down. Thanks Lou and all.
I used FRPP M-6051-S331 and ARP 254-4405 With my GT40P's
