Title: 86 Cougar XR7
Post by: thunderjet302 on January 28, 2015, 04:19:30 PM
63K for $2500. I have no idea what the passenger side looks like. Looks to have some rust. Possibly a good deal for someone, if the underside/frame isn't rotted away.

Thats a great deal for that car....looks very solid for a Chicago car.  If that were closer i would be very tempted. I would straight trade that for my 87 72k mile XR-7 if i could.

I'd rather have the 87 XR7. I bet your car is in MUCH nicer shape than this 86 XR7 reports to be in.

I just like 4 eyed cars better........ hey, buy this one, we can meet half way and swap cars!  I would totally do that.

I just spoke to the seller, says it has a few small surface spots, but its undercoated.  Interior is faded for sure...... I'm still digging it.

. I'm in the middle of starting major home renovations. I probably shouldn't be spending money on something like this.....

It's an auto, but the C3 was better than the a4ld.

Barely. If you leave it stock it's probably ok. Turn up the boost and start looking for a T5 or a C4 to replace it.

, I'd take it, swap in a T5 and the pedals from one of the 4 banger stangs, and drive it daily. I wouldn't even 5.0 swap it...

Guys, slow down, do you really need another?  :hick:

I need another month before I have the money for this one.  If we were a month into the future I would own it..

Grab it if you can......its a rare Cat for sure.  Auto versions are without a doubt the lowest production of all Turbo Birds/Cats.  Be careful with this seller, i spoke with him briefly and he acted like i was crazy when i mentioned the very faded interior.  Just a heads up.....

Thanks for the heads up.  I almost bought a black turbo-coupe from a similar seller.  When I showed up and noticed the peeling repaint and the tires that had been weatherchecked, and the seat bracket that was broken....  He said I was too picky, and if I wanted a new car, I should go to a dealership.  :D

I don't mind paying for quality, but in this case, I expected a "flawless car" as described.  There have been a number of cars that are in much worse condition than described lately.  I guess thats part of the game.
