Title: Mech fuel pump
Post by: 88FoxBird on July 09, 2005, 07:46:00 PM
I got an 84 ho in the garage that I want to put in my ranger. I want to run a carbed setup and I was curious about what all was involved in putting a mechanical fuel pump on it. Truck was already carbed and I dont feel like running wires and all that good stuff for an inline pump.

change the timing cover to a cover that will allow you to bolt on a fuel pump plus the wheel on the cam gear and away you go :D I did this on the 85 302 I put in my 79 cougar runs fine

the cam is probably going to have the pump lobe/wheel already molded on it.

ive often wondered since the timing cover bolt holes are already threaded,, why not just cut out the hole for the pump arm?

Hmm. Might try that. I know theres a hole right where the pump would go, whether or not goes the whole way or not I don't know. I'll just pull the cover off later and check it all out. All I got to do now is find a cheap 2-bbl carb until I can find a new intake.
