A '79 is pre Fox cars, but let's see.....A 351W engine....Bolt on some aftermarket aluminum heads or even a set of GT-40 iron heads. A good cam, and a new intake with a 4bbl carb. Stock Birds all had 2 bbl carbs. Also, a set of headers and a good exhaust. Gears are always a great place to start. Those had 2.73 gears. A set of better gears in the rear will help wake the car up. That's a lot of mass to move. T-Tops? Hmmmmmm. I'd start with Ebay and go from there. They are hard to find.
