I am in the process of installing stock mustang headers so I can install my X pipe. However, the downpipe for my Xpipe can't attach to the header because the transmission linkage is in the way on one side. I have a column shifter optioned car. Any idea how I can avoid this?
Where the linkage is bolted to the frame, you can oblong the bolt hole to get a little adjustment. Should be enough for stock headers.
Thanks for the info
I bet the pipe ishiznitting the lower stud on the driver's side header right? Here's how I got around that on my column shifted LX. Remove the lower stud on the header and use a nut and bolt to fasten the pipe on the bottom and the regular stud and nut on the top. You put the bolt in with the threads facing the header tubes (not the collector, you know the way the stud points now) and tighten the bolt down. The head of the bolt will be about 1/2" above the column shifter linkage.
Edit: This picture should make it clearer.
^ Friend of mine had me do that to his car...'83 with a swapped in 5.0/AOD. A little trouble, but nothing unattainable. :)
Wow, thats pretty cool. I dig it. I'll keep that trick in mind!
