I still don't get where these fit in, were they a cross between an elan and a TC?

Probably made in US for Canada, Canada makes US vehicles

Not really, it was basically a well optioned élan with a different leather seat and some unique paint and badging in conjunction with fila sportswear.  If i remember you could order the fila with 3 different 2 tone paint combos, and they all had the same rims as well which were painted white.  i am pretty sure they all came v8 but there might be some v6 cars too.

And 85's had the full console. I've seen a red '85 with the V6.
