Title: New to me 88 TC!
Post by: 50RACER on October 21, 2014, 06:19:36 PM
Just brought home a new to me 88 TC. 89,000 mile car. Not currently running. P.O. said it needs a fuel pump. No rust. Needs paint on the trunk and top but otherwise mostly very good shape. 5 speed car. Best set of snowflakes I've seen. I haven't even put a battery in it yet. Gonna add that and the fuel pump and see what I got! It's gonna make a great driver, I think!

Looks good. Needs a rear bumper cover but other than that seems to be intact.

I actually have a silver rear bumper cover in great shape!  Pulled the fuel tank to replace the pump, and the 4 year old fuel in it was some of the nastiest I've seen. Flushed it out yesterday and got it back in place but not all the way secure yet. Replaced the fuel filter and drained the lines as best I could. The fuel in the lines didn't seem to be as bad as in the tank, but still been sitting as long. I put a battery in it and bumped the starter. Seems to crank ok. Replaced the fuel tank harness because someone had spliced it together and the fuel gauge wasn't reading, so I thought I would eliminate that possible issue as well while I had it apart. All the electrical stuff seems to work ok, even the power antennae, but I just thought about the fact that I didn't try the power windows? Oh well, I have those too if needed. Hope to finish up the tank install after work today and see if I can get her fired up. Hoping for the best! The underside of this car is the best that I have seen. Not really even any oil. No rust other than some very minor surface stuff.

IT'S ALIVE!!!! Finished installing the fuel tank today. Put a little fresh oil in it. Cranked it over a few times with the coil wire off to get some oil in the top end, put the wire back on, hit the key and it fired instantly after sitting for 4 years.  Ran it for about 25 minutes to make sure the fans were coming on and checking for any vital fluids that may be escaping. Nothing there either. Even the A/C blows cold!  Sweet!!!

my 83 Bird sat at least that long, and one day i connected a new battery, threw in 5 gallons of 108 racing fuel, and she breathed fire on the first try.    Great clean silver bird, nice score.  Would look nice between my 87 Cat and my 83 Bird.
