ever since I purchase this 20th back in 2007, when I ease into a curve, sometimes it slips.
I don't normally drive in "D" either.
the problem has been intermittent or just plain hit and miss but....... HAS NEVER gotten any worse.
thoughts on anything ? linkages ect....
sometimes out of the blue I have to cycle the column shifter because going from P to D or R, I hear a buzzing noise, it clears when I shift out and back in most every single time.
thanks! scott
Sure you have enough tranny fluid in there?
Valvebody might be gummed up somewhere...if it just starts slipping out of nowhere but under acceleration it grabs gears good...it's losing fluid pressure and releasing clutch packs/bands until the pressure comes back. Either fluid sloshes away from the pickup/filter is plugged up/VB has an issue somewhere that's starving it of pressure/flow.
I feel like this is one of those instances of operating very close to a high/low threshold of the "process window" as people say at work...and just the right conditions push you over the edge into -ville.
The buzzing is the TV spring (or maybe just the actual valve itself). I have to look back at my Baumann shift kit manual, the word from them is that it's a resonant vibration that builds and causes that noise. The spring they supply you gets rid of it for good.
I Never have that problem with a 5 SPEEDER!!!! Just kidding!! But i dont!!
I don't agree with Tom often but he hit the nail on the head with this one.
LOL,, suck it!
:burnout: lol
Guys just some Humor. Have a great weekend . Drive those cars the weather is going to be great. And i am going to pound the pavement. Just saying.
Every aod ive had slip at all shiznitthe bed quick, just saying.
When I swapped my t-5 in my old tbird, I went from not een being able to chirp the tires to spinning through all of first gear ona wot hit. It also started eating motor mounts, but thats more likely how I drive it then the cars fault.
With the availability of sn-95 t-5's in the junk yards, you couldeasily do the swap for less then $400.
yeah but its a 20th, cant be doing that. I want to preserve it.
only major change it has is the smog short belt, all original design is the intent., if any mods they can be reversed easily.
The Standard coin tray fits nicely in the shifter hole location... ;).
No 5 speeder JAY??? BORING TO DRIVE Just me
nascar enjoys stick shifts?
Me 2 !!!
I make it a habit to run about a half a quart more fluid than the max listed on the dipstick. When was the last time the fluid was changed? Might want to pull the valve body and give her a once over next time you do. I had a stuck 1-2 shift valve once on one of my cars. Car was stuck in first.
The guy that rebuilt my AOD told me to do that as well. Apparently the factory marking on the dipstick is just barely enough fluid. He said to go about 1/4"-1/2" above the hash marks on the dipstick with the transmission HOT. I forget how much fluid that was as I have a smaller torque converter than stock(9.5" PI Stallion).
