Title: New engine 1st start
Post by: turbotrav on August 23, 2014, 08:57:34 PM
So I'm close to start my cougar with the rebuilt 351w.  Sense it megasquirt and a completely new setup.  I may have trouble keeping it running for the first time....
How long do I need to keep the engine running to do the initial startup break in with that special oil?

Thanks,

Travis

It depends if you have a roller cam or not. But there is no such thing as a break in oil. If you are asking how long you should run the oil or it's first change i do it after a hundred miles and 3000 after that. have a great weekend guys.

It's an f cam.....will there be problems if the car only runs for 2mins.....then 5mins....assuming I can adjust techroom idle and such after 1st start.

Thanks
