I have a edelbrock 600 carb on a 351w. If car sets overnight it will not start with out some starting fluid, but after I get the motor running and car warms up. I can stop and restart the car with no problem. If it sets for at least two hours or better its hard to start again.
Hi check your fuel pump, it my be bleeding off pressure, also is your choke set properly? and your float level also. EDB carbs are very easy to tune and very reliable. sounds like a weak fuel pump.
I have a intake fuel pump and frame rail pump with a FPR with a return. When I turn the key on, it builds to 6psi pretty quick. I will take fuel line off carb and put in a bucket and turn key on to see how fast the fuel is getting there.
Could fuel be bleeding down in the return side?
I need to check float and choke level.
x2 on choke
with a bone cold motor, you loosen up the hold down screws on the outside, rotate it cw or ccw to the point when the butterflies *just start* to barely open.
tighten down screws,, all done.
motor has to be cold cold cold,, you should actually do this when the ambient temp in your room or outside is really low
Thank you for the advice, I adjusted the choke and starts up good now. I was able to get the mixture screws adjusted also.
Good grief man, ditch that horrible carb and put a Holley 750 DP on it. I am running an 830 cfm Carb Shop modified Holley 750 DP on my 351. I ran the same carb when it was just a 750 sfm unit on my 306 and it screamed. We tried a 600 cfm DP and it ran but nothing like the 750.
