Title: Saved a 20th Anniversary Cougar from the Crusher...
Post by: CoogarXR on June 29, 2014, 07:52:57 PM
"The Cougar addiction is strong in this one"

I can't resist a cheap cougar, or a rare one, or one that is going to be destroyed. This was all 3!

One-owner 20th anniversary, but it's had a rough life. It has sat undriven for 11 years. It doesn't have much rust, just some surface rust. The paint is badly faded, and the driver seat is pretty worn. It starts and runs and sounds good, and it moved back and fourth in the driveway just fine. He said he drove it up and down the street and it shifted fine, however the power steering line burst and so did one of the brake lines. And the dry-rotted tires are literally falling apart. I took his word for it. I bought it, but I didn't have a way to get it home yet. I'll take pictures once I get it home.

It is fully loaded though, obviously being an anniversary edition, but it also has the power sunroof, power antenna and digital climate control.

Here's to another Cougar soon to be in the driveway!

Well, I may not have changed the fate of this car after all. I didn't look it over very well when I bought it... The body didn't have much rust, and a quick glance underneath looked OK, I thought everything would be OK. However, I noticed now that I got it home, that the shock towers are rotted through. *Sigh*.

So, I am probably going to part it out unfortunately, unless anybody wants to buy the car whole. I'll probably list it and/or its parts in the for-sale section soon.

What's really depressing is that I had already started working on it, and bought parts for it. I only noticed the strut tower rot on accident.
