thinking about sand blasting my rims on my 88 Bird, I believe they are aluminum.
Does professional sandblasting greatly improve the appearance?
What can be done to them after sandblast. I understand Dipping in chrome is very costly.
What else could be done besides not sandblasting and just leaving as is and going back to hand polishing.
After sand blasting the rims will have a dull bare alum look to them. You will want to paint them or cut and polish them back up, or some combination of both. Watch some youtube clips on cutting and polishing alum if you think you want to try it for yourself.
Soda blasting or some other type of less aggressive media may give the alum a much better raw look than sand blasting.
I had mine sandblasted and they did come out with a slightly rough finish. It was O.K. because I wanted to paint them. Used a primer and then a hammered finish paint. I think that they came out pretty good.
Find a place that does glass bead blasting.
