Title: Fuel filler neck grommet...
Post by: vinnietbird on April 18, 2014, 04:10:22 PM
Is the Stang piece the same or do I need a different part. If somebody has a link or part number, I'd appreciate that.

Are you talking about the rubber at the tank where the filler neck slides in? If so I used a mustang one

Don't remember the part number, but it was for the same as a Stang.

I ordered one for the '04 Mustang. I have a bit less than half a tank of gas, so, I'll burn a bit more before I install it. LOL.

Hit it with a bit of oil before installing. It'll help the filler slide better.

Thanks. I'll spray a little WD-40 on it when it gets here.

I got the one for the Stang as we mentioned above. It was too small. may have been the wrong part that i received. SO, I went to Autozone and they had one on the shelf. $27.00 and good to go.

Check your canister purge and charcoal canister lines.

My buddy at Ford told me to use a very light coat of dish soap to get the filler neck in.  Not sure why but it has worked well over the years.  I used one for a Fox Mustang on my '83.

I don't have one of those any more. I kept the line as vent.
I was told SCCA tech wants tank vented in front car.
I'm wondering if I'm getting vapor smell from the braider lines.

I used a wee bit of wd-40. No issues installing the filler tube. No leaks.

You'll get a gas smell just from that vent line if the weather is right.  Usually more noticeable in cold weather.  Had that line break on me in an older car in the winter.
