Title: How Do I Bench Test Power Antenna?
Post by: Kafer79 on March 28, 2014, 06:44:33 PM
Purchased a power antenna from the local crushing yard today.  Donor was a 88 XR7.  I want to ensure it works or I'm taking it back to the yard for my money.  How can I bench test to ensure it works?  I grounded the green wire to the negative term on my battery and placed the red wire on the positive terminal...no response.

Google was no help.

Thanks in advance.

Reverse the wires to battery hook-up. Reversing the wires will make it change directions. (up/down).

I'd ground the mounting bracket. Then try one wire at a time.

For down, the switch puts 12v on the green and ground on the red.
For up, the switch puts 12v on the red and ground on the green.

Update:  Operator error.  I wasn't making a good connection at the battery until I wired some alligator clips.  Thanks for the wiring diagram and advice.  The motor works great.
