Went to the local P-n-P today and checked out four fresh donations to the Yard:
(1) 88 XR7
(1) 87 Cougar LS (3.8)
(2) 88 Thunderbirds (5.0 and 3.8)
The XR7 was optioned out...Moonroof, dual power seats, etc. The 5.0 T-Bird had everything but Moonroof.
A question to the community....what should I be harvesting from these cars? I removed the moonroof motor and tail-lights from the XR7 for spares to my 88 XR7. Anything else to consider stockpiling? These cars last about 4 months in the yard before they're sent to the crusher.

-- Any window trim
-- window dew wipes
-- the plastic cups that go around the interior door handles
-- window switches
-- headlamp/autodim/autolamp switches
-- power seat switches
-- center console and lid
-- remote trunk release actuators
-- remote fuel door actuators
Screw it. Take everything.
You can always get your money back out manual drivers seat tracks.
Check for trip computers, especially in 84-85 cars.
Anything you can afford/store reasonably. You really never know. They're big of course, but the doors tend to rust out quick, if they're good it would be sad to see them turned into a washing machine...
All of the switches, all of the exterior lights in decent shape, air intake tubes, and thing that is Thunderbird and Cougar specific (can't use on any other cars), buttstuffog gauges......If the XR-7 has a 5.0 and buttstuffog gauges, I could use them myself.
Both the XR7 and 5.0 TBird had buttstuffog guages. I could remove them this afternoon. Any preference between the two?
Thunderbird.
Also, grab the floor shift cables, shifter bracket on the rear of the transmission and shifters if they are good. As well as the kick down cables. people here looking for them. And the throttle cable brackets. I need a throttle cable bracket and the gauges.

I really need an unbroken hood release handle/assembly. Mine functions fine, but the plastic portion that bolts to under the lower dash is broken and the hood handle pulls free too far forward and then you have manually place it back in the resting area. Would you be able to check it out for me?
+1
Any time I find one I try and grab parts that are in really good shape that I can't easily get. Interior/exterior trim bits etc.
