what is the probable fault when the following happens....
when the tank is filled up......
>there is a very strong gas oder till you use up some gas, the smell will go away eventually like in 50 or so miles.
>there are no leaks on the ground
>there are no wet areas along the fill tube
>there is no wet spots aroudn the tank grommet
The top gaskets could be leaking just a bit. That's what happened to mine. replaced the gaskets and good to go.
Put smoke on it to find the leak Or check the roll over valve if the tank does not have a hole in it!!! And check all the evap hoses and fuel lines for ROT
X2.
My tbird did this when I first bought it. crawled under it one day and realized the charcoal canister was missing the vac line. hooked it back up, and good as new.
if i modify a gas cap , with air fitting ,,
couldnt i add a few lbs of air and listen?
i cant figure out how to do the smoke thing,, i didnt make one of those smoke tools you did tom.
our tanks have 4 attachment points,, so im not sure where this roll over valve its you mention..?
the fill kneck
the fuel pump
the fuel sendor
the emissions vac to charcoal canister.
