Now that I have retired my gray T-Bird from bracket racing, I want to take out the heavy 460 and try something else.
Thought about going the Coyote/C4 trans route.
Engine appears to be wider than the 460, and about 200 lbs. lighter.
I would love to have a 7,000 rpm screamer. :D

I have thought about doing that also but with a stick. Once I decide that I don't want the push rod engine anymore I'm gonna build a coyote that will see more than 7000 :D

I think it would be an awesome project - perhaps with a new dash since there would likely be a bit of wiring changes. No reason not to upgrade the dash if that is the case. I'd also hope to move to an under-hood fusebox. I'm not really trusting the thing under there to not go up in flames with how brittle my fornicatesebox plastic seems to have gotten. New engine wire harness, new custom gauges, what else is there to worry about? Lamps, transmission, fuel pump, creature comforts.
One can't simply do a plain/base Coyote 5.0 though - it needs more gofast parts.
412hp stock and 25mpg+ depending on gearing would keep me happy.
One of the mustang mags did a ltd swap.
Id go 5 or 6 speed if it were me.

There have been multiple Mustangs on corral with the swap. I looked into it for the 86 T-bird, but its way out of my budget for the car. I'll wait until they start coming down in price like the 4.6 DOHC's have.
I'd have to sell my Mustang to do a swap like that. The thought has crossed my mind. I've found the perfect donor vehicle as well. Whether or not it's available when my tax return comes is another issue. I have about 10 days to wait....
I have been working on getting the 03 SVT 4.6 in my 85. I really need to get back to it. From what I understand the swaps are similar, same k member, hydro boost set up etc.
Yeah virtually the same setups. The 5.0 wiring is a huge hangup as the Hot Rod harness is $1500 from Ford.
