Tons of good pictures and this car has a factory sunroof and rocker moldings.  Don't need all of the other add on stuff tho'

Yea, not sure it will sell for that price (based on the Cougar convertible that just sold)  but it is a nice piece.

No power pass seat or leather, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, lol.

The following are things wrong or missing on this car:

1. Chrome flares around wheel wells

2. Third brake Light

3. Red light led on control panel on console (probably a after market alarm light)

4. Missing original hood prop rod

5. non-stock tach on steering column

6. and heaven forbid that compass is just sitting on top of that mint dash pad and not glued or drilled.

All that said, its a really nice clean survivor.  It will never sell at those numbers.  Maybe with a nice set of 10 holes, to give a sporty look, wire wheels, though stock and correct will not help move that car.

Prop rod and hood springs look right to me.

Looks like someone rounded the edges of the buck tag tho'.

Wire wheel covers wouldn't hold me back :hick:  but those wheel flares might!  I wonder how easy they would be to remove and what damage might be left behind?

Removing those wheel flares might cause some damage. They are probably the kind that are stuck on with 3M tape, hopefully. If any screws were used.....

That compass on the dash looks to be held on with double sided tape. That, again, should come off ok if one is careful.

I wish my Thunderbird still had it's buck tag. All that was left when I got it was a nub. My best guess is that it was broken off because of a warranty repair. I've got paperwork for the coolant overflow jug being replaced in early 1990 under warranty because it cracked and developed a leak. I bet the dealer mechanic busted the buck tag getting the old jug out or the new jug in.

I can see some screws holding on the flares but still think, like you said, could also use 3M tape.  Sure would be a bummer to remove them and find damage/fading/discolor/etc.

Also noticed to what looks to be a sizable dent on the PS door.  That's not mentioned in the auction. The bumper rub strips also look very worn compared to the rest of the car.  Would definitely have to see this car in person.

Doubt if they would remove the buck tag for warranty work, probably caught it on something and snapped it off?

Also noticed the original owner kept detailed notes which stop at 11,800 miles.

Wonder who put on the next 36xx miles?

That's what I think happened on my Thunderbird. If you've never seen the mounting location for the coolant reservoir jug on 86-88 5.0 cars it's mounted behind the header panel to the radiator support. You have to unbolt it and pull it up through the gap between the header and radiator support. The buck tag was mounted right above the location of the reservoir. My guess is the dealer tech broke the buck tag off to get the reservoir out easier. All that was left was a little nub that lined up perfectly with the end of the radiator support.

It does look like someone backed into the passenger door or it was opened into a pole or some other object hard.
