Looking for a stock 9 blade fan from a fox Mustang. Lemme know what you got?
A brand new one is $35. Just a fyi.
A Ford one or a reman?
I see the 50resto for $35.
Looking through the Autozone website Dorman and Continental make them as well, but my historical experience with Dorman is shall we say......no bueno. I have no idea about Continental.
Looking at the Dorman part# shows it substitutes for Ford part # F3TZ-8600-C.
Google search : https://www.google.com/search?q=F3TZ-8600-C&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=rcs#channel=rcs&q=F3TZ-8600-C+&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=shop
Hmm. $15....1 year warranty.
Looks like the same part for the Ranger, Aerostar, Explorer, Capri, Mustang, and possibly others as well.....
I bought one from 50resto several years ago and it came in a Ford box. It was $30 back then. I don't know if it's still a Ford part or not.
Checked 50resto..... according to their site, it's a part made either by or for 50 resto; part # LRS-8600A.
Guess I'll just pick one with a warranty that is easy to get hold of the company....
BTW -- the actual Ford ones I'm finding are going for around $65.
So basically I got lucky several years ago?
They most likely had some type of contract with Ford a few years ago. It's not uncommon. Probably could not come to terms on a renewal for whatever reason. At that price I don't see Ford selling too many other than to guys who want period correct or are dead set on factory hardware. I can actually be this way with certain components, but this aint one of them. Good quality at a fair price, thank you.
Hmm perhaps they did have a contract at one point with Ford. I try to buy Motorcraft/Ford parts whenever possible. However the aftermarket fan should probably be the same quality. It's also possible that the same company who makes the fans now makes them for Ford as well.
