Title: TC Nose Swap
Post by: hunter4life on January 21, 2014, 08:14:25 PM
Hello all, just curious as to what is needed to swap a TC nose onto a sport?  Will I need the inner bumper support or just the bumper cover? Also what is needed from the donor car to be able to use the factory fog lights?

Thanks,

Owen

First, the header panel is a direct swap. Easy.

The bumper cover is also a direct swap, but when you install it, it extends OVER the bottom half of the front fenders, and has screws that go into the fenders on the inner lip. The fiberglass bumper is the same, but the Turbo Coupe has a black plastic "filler panel" that fits onto the front of the bumper and takes up the space between the bumper and cover.

As far as the fog lights, I would just buy a fog light installation kit with a relay, wire it to a new switch, or a factory switch, and use new wires to the original lights. You will also need the fog light mounting brackets. Pretty sturdy steel brackets that bolt behind the bumper.

One other thing..the two innermost lights from your stock header panel won't work, as they are specific to the header panel. (The headlights and outer lights WILL work however.) You'll need the inner ones from a TC. If you're lacking those, I might possibly have a pair...they may need polished, but if I've got them, they're solid.

I'll check tomorrow and get back to you on the status of 'em.

Sweet, I did not know if there was wiring in place on the sport or if I need the fog light wiring harness from the donor. I will definitely grab the factory switch and a wiring kit for the fog lights. On a side not, Vinnie, I am a big fan of your sport and all your upgrades.

Hey Thanks, I appreciate that a lot. I've done a ton of planning and working my design out to make sure it turned out how it looked in my brain. LOL.

This is great info and why I asked. I appreciate the offer but will grab the lights from the TC donor.
I bought my sport 1 year ago in great condition and is my daily driver but it's time to upgrade. I love the styling of the TC as I had an 88' 20 some years ago and was amazed at how well it held up to the abuse I put it thru.  I am looking at an explorer 5.0 swap pretty soon for a little more kick.

Great info guys!!!
